At the end of the summer we had a little bit of lettuce. I dug up the carrots. They were ok, only had a small handful. The chamomile did not look like chamomile. I don't know what happened to it... And the chives were still alive, so I thought I'd transplant them to a small pot and put them in my sunny window so I could have fresh chives during the winter.
Well, they seemed to be doing alright for a while. Then they started to get dry, so I watered them. But not often enough. Pretty soon, all I had was a pretty pot with crunchy, brown wisps sticking out of the dirt. So I trimmed the whole thing down, hoping that the chives might sprout up again. But to no avail. I killed it. :(
I am not a gardener. I really know nothing about plants. If you could see my thumb, it is not the sightest shade of green.
So I shrugged my shoulders, and just left it. I didn't have anywhere to dump a pot of dirt. I have a couple other hanging plants that I am trying to keep alive beside the pot of dead chives. I rescued them from my local grocery store. They were on sale for like $2 and looking pretty sad. I thought I'd be able to revive them with some water and give them a good home... They are hanging in there. ha. :) And when I do water my plants (I really am trying to keep them alive) I put some water in the dead chive pot. I don't know why.. keeping hope alive, maybe?
Well, this week, my plants were looking thirsty, so I got them a drink. And I glanced at my chive pot and could not believe my eyes. A little green sprout was peeking it's way back to the sunlight! Wahoo!! I didn't totally kill it! There is hope! (can you see it?? I took this pic a few days ago, and now that little sprout is even bigger!)
My lovely plants
See the pot with the sticks? Yup, that used to be a lovely green flowery fall plant. I forget what it's called. But that too has begun to sprout again, and has a couple little flower buds on it!
So, there is hope for my green thumb yet! I'll get the hang of it someday...
You are simply AMAZING! haha good job :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you did it, but you managed to make me very excited by the end of your blog that the chives had come back to life.
