Mission Finally Accomplished!

I have been wanting to clean out the kids' toys since Christmas! Toys are the most useless, money waster there are - in my own honest opinion. Give a kid a wooden spoon, a steel pot, and a couple of blocks and they'll play forever! Ok, not all toys are bad, but it sure gets old picking them up everyday, knowing that they're not even getting played with!

Today, I had a mission. I was going to conquer toy mountain that has been growing in our living room corner since Christmas! And I WON! hahaha! Take that, TOYS!

I started by dumping everything out in the middle of our living room floor. The girls were not allowed to touch anything unless they were going to throw it away or put it in a box. (They went to find something else to do....)
I had a box for the junk, a laundry basket to put the things in that needed to go to the bedroom upstairs, and a pile of things to keep and put away down here.

And you know, it really didn't take that long. I was pleasantly surprised and felt so accomplished when all was said and done. I had recently bought some canvas tote boxes for $1 a piece (Christmas Tree Shop!) and put them in my organizer shelf. I put what I could in the boxes, and put the bigger toys on the bottom of the bookcase.

I have been dreaming of this for over a year! Everything has a place - finally! I instructed the kids that we were only going to take out one thing at a time to play with, and it was going to be put away before anything else could come out. And they actually sat down and played! and then put the toys away! *Hallelujah!!*

Seriously, I'm so stoked that this is done. I feel like I can conquer anything now. I feel free and relaxed, and it only took a couple hours! Why didn't I do this sooner? I was letting my perfectionism defeat me before I even got started. It was too overwhelming. But a good night sleep (6 hrs? I'll take it..) and some determination, done.
